This is my first pregnancy and im a little confused how they decide the due date. My last period date and the scan date are showing slightly different. Which one do we actually go by?
I just put my last period date into a due date app and it gave me an estimate instantly. Then my dating scan confirmed it almost exactly. The app was a fun way to track the countdown too.
My doctor calculated my due date from the first day of my last period, about 40 weeks from there. The early dating scan then fine tuned it. So between your last period date and the scan, the gynac gives you the EDD.
Its counted from your last period, roughly 40 weeks. The dating scan gives a more accurate date. Just remember its an estimate, babies come on their own schedule, both mine were off the date.
