My periods are always irregular so im honestly confused how doctors count the weeks. My gynac said something about last period date but mine was all over the place. How do they figure out the exact week na?
If your cycles are irregular like mine were, the LMP method can be off by a lot. For me only the scan gave the correct weeks. So dont stress if your dates feel confusing, doc will fix it with sonography.
Just put your last period date in any pregnancy app and it gives week count instantly. But honestly the first ultrasound is what locks the real number, apps are just an estimate till then.
They count from the first day of your last period, not from when u actually conceived. So even before u missed period technically u were already counted as few weeks. Best is a dating scan, that tells exact.
My gynac explained this nicely. Period date gives a rough idea but the early ultrasound between 8 to 12 weeks is the most accurate for dating. After that the due date doesnt change much even if periods were irregular.
I was so confused by this too! I kept thinking weeks meant from conception but apparently no. The app I use also asks last period date and calculates from there.
