I was already overweight before conceiving and now I am scared of gaining too much. I don't want to do anything extreme, just understand what is okay during pregnancy. Anyone managed weight with doctor's guidance?
Pregnancy is usually not the time to try and lose weight, the baby needs nutrition. With my gestational diabetes the focus was healthy balanced eating and controlling sugar, not dieting. Please let your doctor guide what weight range is right for you.
I kept active with light walks and prenatal yoga that my gynac approved, more to stay fit than to lose weight. Active management of weight gain is fine, but actual dieting in pregnancy is a no unless a doctor says so.
I get the worry about weight especially with PCOS, I had it too. But in pregnancy I switched my mindset to eating clean rather than losing kilos. Your doctor will tell you whats safe, please dont restrict on your own.
If a doctor has told you to manage your weight for a reason, that should be done under their plan, not on your own. Cutting food or crash dieting while pregnant can harm baby. Please discuss this with your gynac first.
Honestly the goal in pregnancy is healthy weight gain, not loss. You can avoid junk and too much sugar and stay gently active, but dont diet. Talk to your doctor about a safe range for you.
