We are planning to start trying in a few months and i want to prepare myself properly before that. Like food, exercise, any tests beforehand. What all did u do before conceiving?
I'm in the same boat, planning right now. My doctor told me to start folic acid before conceiving, eat well and get my thyroid and sugar checked. Cutting down stress and getting a basic preconception checkup really helps, that's where I started.
My gynac suggested a preconception visit, folic acid for a few months prior, and getting tests like hemoglobin, thyroid, vitamin D and rubella immunity sorted. Maintain a healthy weight and stop smoking or alcohol if any. It really sets a good base.
We just started trying so I asked my doctor the same. She said eat balanced, take folic acid, sleep well and reduce stress. A basic health checkup for both partners is a good idea too, it gave us peace of mind.
Before conceiving I focused on regular walks, light yoga and clean eating, it made me feel ready. Good sleep and less junk too. But do get a doctor checkup first so you start on folic acid and fix any deficiency.
With my PCOS, getting my cycles and weight in better shape before trying made a difference. Everyone's body is different though. Please see a doctor for a preconception check, they'll personalise it and start you on the right supplements.
