Third trimester chal raha hai and my MIL keeps saying i should start massaging for breastfeeding later. But i have no idea how to do it properly or if its even safe right now. Can someone who has done it tell me?
Uff, my breasts feel so heavy and sore right now in my 9th month. I just do a very light touch massage with olive oil during bath, but honestly too tired to do anything complex!
A soft massage with lukewarm oil really helps with the stretching skin and itching. Just avoid the nipple area and keep the strokes very light and upward.
My pregnancy tracker app says to use light circular motions with warm coconut oil. But it also warned not to stimulate the nipples too much, especially in the 3rd trimester, as it can start contractions.
I used to panic thinking I was doing it wrong or that it would hurt the baby. But actually, my doc reassured me that a light, normal rub with moisturizer is totally safe.
I asked my hospital staff about this to avoid extra charges on lactation classes later. They told me just a very gentle upward massage during shower is enough, no need for fancy oils or heavy pressure.
Please be very careful and gentle when doing this. After my previous loss, I became super cautious, so I asked my gynac before trying any massage techniques.
I keep worrying if breast massage can cause early labor or if I am pressing too hard. I literally ask my gynac ten times, better to be safe and just do very minimal, soft strokes.
