My doctor measures my fundal height at every check-up. I'm curious to know how exactly it's measured and what it indicates about the baby's growth. Can someone explain it simply?
I completely understand why you want to track this, as we constantly worry if the baby is growing fine. But trying to measure it yourself using a tape might give wrong results and make u more anxious. Let the doctor handle this part during your scans.
Fundal height is measured from the pubic bone to the top of your uterus using a measuring tape. But honestly, it's very tricky to find the exact top of the uterus at home. Let your gynac do it at your regular visits, they are experts at it.
Honestly, measuring this at home can be very confusing and might just cause unnecessary worry. It's best to let your doctor do it with their tape during checkups. If you ever feel your tummy isn't growing or baby movements are less, go straight to the clinic.
During my GD pregnancy, my fundal height was monitored closely by my doctor because GD can affect baby's size. I never tried measuring it myself at home because only the doctor's clinical measurement is accurate. Always trust their clinic readings over DIY methods.
I remember watching videos online trying to measure my own belly and getting so scared when my numbers didn't match. My doctor later laughed gently and said my baby was perfectly fine. Don't stress yourself over this, trust your doctor's hands!
