At my checkup the doctor measured my tummy with tape and said something about fundal height. I forgot to ask properly because clinic was crowded. Can someone explain what they are checking from this?
Honestly leave this to the gynac, they measure it at each checkup with a measuring tape over your belly. It tells them if baby's growing fine. Not something to try yourself at home.
My gynac measures my belly with a tape every visit and I always wondered what it was, now I know it's fundal height. Anyone else's number was bit off from their week? She said small difference is okay so I relaxed.
It's something the doctor does, not us. They measure with a tape from the pubic bone to top of the uterus, in cm, and after a point it roughly matches your week number. Just let them do it at your visits.
My doctor explained fundal height is the distance from the pubic bone to the top of the uterus, measured in cm and usually close to gestational age in weeks after about 20 weeks. It's a quick way for them to track growth. She did it each visit.
