My belly is growing now, around 6 months, and bending down feels so awkward and i get scared of straining. Things keep falling and i have to pick them up at home. Whats the right way to do it safely?
Beta dont rush, lower yourself by bending the knees, not the back, and come up slowly. If something is heavy, just leave it or call someone. Protect that back and tummy, take it easy.
Honestly I just started keeping things at table height to avoid bending so much. When I had to pick stuff I squatted down with knees bent. Saves your back and your time chasing things on the floor.
Squat down slowly with bent knees and avoid sudden movements. If u have any back pain, cramping or were told to take it easy, please dont bend or lift much at all and ask your doctor what activity is safe for u.
Bend at your knees, squat down keeping your back straight, dont bend from the waist. Hold something for support if needed. As the belly grows, ask for help instead of straining, no shame in that.
Squat technique is best, knees bent and back upright, like a slow controlled squat. My prenatal yoga teacher (after doc approval) showed me this. Avoid twisting while lifting, go slow and steady.
