Im 7 months now and starting to think about breastfeeding. Heard some women do certain things beforehand to help with milk supply. Is there anything I should be doing already or does it all happen naturally after delivery?
Beta in our time elders gave methi, saunf, milk with dryfruits after delivery to help milk. During pregnancy just eat balanced and rest well. But anything special, ask your doctor first, every body is different.
I felt so unprepared for this part honestly. What helped me was watching latching videos before delivery and keeping nursing bras ready. The milk part really does take care of itself, dont worry like I did.
Honestly your body prepares itself a lot on its own, you might even leak a little colostrum in later months which is normal. Reading up on latching before delivery helped me more than anything. Dont stress about producing milk, it comes.
My doctor said the main things are eating well, staying hydrated and not stressing about it. She told me not to do any nipple stimulation before due date as it can trigger contractions. She suggested a breastfeeding class in last trimester which honestly helped.
Dont buy into the pressure of doing too much. Eat properly, rest, and learn the latch. With my first I panicked about supply, second time I just relaxed and it was way easier. Ask for a lactation consultant at the hospital if you can.
My mother said just eat warm nourishing food and keep yourself calm, the rest happens naturally after baby comes. Maybe keep some nursing essentials ready. And the hospital nurses help a lot with feeding in the first days.
I just delivered and I will tell you, no one is fully prepared and thats okay. Just keep an open mind and dont feel like a failure if it takes time. Ask the nurses, they showed me everything in those first days.
