How to prepare your breasts during pregnancy for breastfeeding?
This is my first baby and im in my third trimester now. I keep hearing women say u should prepare beforehand for feeding but nobody tells me how exactly. What did u all do to get ready?
My gynac said no harsh rubbing or anything, the old myths arent needed. She suggested just gentle hygiene and a good supportive bra. If you have flat or inverted nipples, mention it to her and she may guide on positioning later.
I worried about this before delivery but truly the prep is minimal. What helped me more was learning the feeding positions after baby came, especially with a C-section. Ask the hospital for a lactation consultant, they are gold.
Honestly you dont need to do much, the body prepares itself. I just wore comfy non wired bras and kept the area clean and moisturised so skin doesnt get dry. The real learning happens once baby comes and latches.
Dont overthink this beta. A soft towel during bath, keeping skin moisturised so it doesnt crack, and a comfortable bra is enough. Once baby is here, a lactation nurse can help you with the latch if needed.
