My last report showed my hb is on the lower side and my gynac mentioned watching out for anemia. Im a bit tense honestly. what all did you do diet wise or otherwise to keep it in check? pls share.
You dont need fancy stuff honestly. Green leafy veg, dal, gud, dates are cheap and good. The govt iron folic tablets work fine, take them daily. Get the hemoglobin test done at your checkups, its usually included.
My amma made sure I ate dates and a bit of greens daily, said it builds blood. It helped, but I also never skipped my iron tablet. Both together kept my levels okay till the end.
My doc stressed two things, take the iron tablets she prescribed regularly and eat iron rich food, plus vitamin C with it so iron absorbs better. So I'd have my iron with a bit of nimbu or amla. Dont skip the supplements.
Beta khaane pe dhyaan do, palak, beetroot, dates, jaggery, all good for blood. We always gave these to pregnant girls at home. But also take the iron the doctor gives, food alone may not be enough.
I went anemic in my second trimester so please dont take this lightly. Get your hemoglobin checked on time, follow the iron exactly as doc says. If you feel very tired or breathless, tell your doctor quickly.
