I had BV once before pregnancy and now I am worried it may come back. Sometimes there is discharge and smell, so I get anxious. What precautions did your doctor suggest, if you had same issue?
Keep that area clean and dry, wear cotton underwear, and avoid harsh soaps or douching inside, that actually disturbs the natural balance. Wipe front to back always. But if you already have unusual discharge or smell, dont try to fix it yourself, see your gynac since BV in pregnancy needs proper treatment.
Basic prevention is avoiding douches and harsh products, keeping dry, breathable cotton, and not over washing the area. That said, BV is a real infection, so any unusual smell or discharge during pregnancy should go to the doctor for the right treatment. Prevention helps but diagnosis needs a professional.
I can only share what worked for me, i stuck to cotton, plain water cleaning and skipped all the fancy intimate washes. Beyond that i dont want to advise on infections. When i had any worry i just went to my gynac and let her decide, which i would gently suggest you do too.
Prevention wise, gentle hygiene, cotton inners and no scented washes or douching helps. But i want to be honest, BV during pregnancy is something doctors take seriously, so if you suspect you have it, please dont self treat. Get it checked because untreated it can cause issues.
