My mother had sugar problem in her pregnancies so im a little worried it might run in family. Im only in 2nd month now and want to be careful from start. What can i do diet wise to lower the chances?
I developed GD so let me share, what helped was cutting sugary drinks, eating smaller balanced meals and walking after food. It doesnt always prevent it but it really helps control. Definitely do the glucose test your gynac asks for, dont skip it.
Regular walking made a big difference for me, my gynac cleared me to walk daily. A 15 to 20 min walk after meals keeps sugar in check. Just do whatever your doctor allows, dont overdo.
Eat balanced, avoid too much sweet and refined stuff, and stay active. Some risk depends on family history and weight too, so you cant always prevent it fully. Best is to follow your doctors diet advice and do the screening test.
