My gynac said at my first visit that my bmi is on higher side and i should be careful. Im 10 weeks now and a bit worried about complications. I know i cant exactly diet right now so how do u manage weight safely in pregnancy? Anyone been told the same?
I had high weight and GD, so my doctor put me on a controlled diet not a weight loss diet. Cutting too much in pregnancy can affect the baby. They guided me to manage portions and sugar, not to drop kilos. Pls go through your doc for this.
Pregnancy is not the time to actively reduce weight, please dont try that on your own. The aim is healthy controlled gain, not loss. Your gynac will tell you the right range for your BMI, talk to her first.
Realistically you cant focus on BMI numbers now, focus on eating clean and not overeating. I swapped fried snacks for fruits and nuts, that itself controlled extra gain a lot. Simple changes, no drastic stuff.
If your doc allows, daily walking and prenatal yoga help keep weight gain in check without losing. I do 30 min walk after dinner. Just dont do anything intense without clearance.
