How to reduce melanin production during pregnancy?
My face and neck have gone so dark since 5th month, the pigmentation is really bothering me. Dont want to use random creams in pregnancy. Anything gentle that worked for u all?
Please do not use any OTC skin lightening creams like hydroquinone during pregnancy as they can be highly dangerous for the baby. Pigmentation is very normal and usually fades on its own after birth. Please consult your gynac before applying anything on your face.
I felt so conscious when my neck and face started turning dark during my second trimester. I wanted to try home remedies but my doc told me to just leave it alone and use a safe physical sunscreen. Honestly, it mostly cleared up on its own a few months after my delivery!
Melanin production increases naturally due to pregnancy hormones like estrogen. The most scientifically backed way to manage it is to protect your skin from UV rays using a pregnancy-safe zinc oxide sunscreen. Avoid harsh chemical peels and let your hormones settle first.
Pregnancy pigmentation is completely hormonal, so spending on expensive skin whitening creams is a total waste of money. Just buy a simple, cheap mineral sunscreen of SPF 50 and wear it daily even when you are at home. It will save both your skin and your budget!
I had skin issues and some complications during my pregnancy, and my dermatologist strictly warned against using any active whitening serums. Many of those chemicals can enter your bloodstream and affect the baby. Please always run your skincare products by your doctor first.
