Delivered 2 weeks back and my feet are still puffy, didn't expect swelling to stay even after baby is out. did this happen to u also postpartum? how long it took to go down?
After delivery, I was dying to eat spicy pickles and chips, but my doctor told me that high sodium makes postpartum swelling worse! So, I had to cut back on my cravings and drink lots of coconut water instead. It slowly worked!
Make sure you keep your salt intake low to prevent water retention, and drink lots of water. Since I had gestational diabetes, I had to be very careful with my diet even post-delivery. If the swelling is severe or in only one leg, check with your doctor.
Between managing the baby and work, you barely get time. Just keep a small stool under your desk or sofa to keep your legs elevated whenever you sit. Avoid sitting or standing in one place for too long, and wear comfortable compression socks if needed.
I completely understand how frustrating it is when the swelling doesn't go away even after delivery! I used to panic thinking something was wrong with my kidneys. Just elevate your feet on 2 pillows whenever you lie down, it really helps to reduce it.
I am still in my 3rd trimester and my feet look like absolute potatoes, I dread seeing what happens postpartum! My doctor said soaking them in warm water with rock salt helps, but mostly I'm just living in my husband's oversized slippers.
