Im in my second trimester and have already put on quite a bit, doctor mentioned my weight gain is on the higher side. Not trying to crash diet obviously, just want to manage it in a healthy way for me and baby. Any tips from those who controlled their weight?
Dear, this isnt the phase to chase weight loss. Eat well, eat clean, stay gently active and trust your doctor on what gain is healthy for you. Your body is doing big work right now, be kind to it.
Pregnancy is honestly not the time to actively lose weight, the focus should be healthy eating, not dieting. You can avoid junk and too much sugar and stay active, but please dont try to drop kilos. Let your gynac guide your weight gain target.
Instead of reducing, aim to manage weight sensibly. Balanced meals, portion control, light walks if your doctor allows. Trying to actually lose weight in pregnancy can be risky for the baby, so set the right goal with your doctor first.
Dont think of it as losing weight now. Once my doctor cleared me, I did daily walks and gentle prenatal yoga which kept me from gaining excess. Eat clean and move a bit, but never restrict food to slim down during this time.
I had to watch my weight due to sugar issues, but it was about controlled healthy eating, not weight loss. More veggies, protein, less refined carbs and regular walks helped me stay in a healthy range. My doctor and dietician planned it all, please go that route.
