My baby is 5 months now and the lower tummy is just not going back no matter what. I had a normal delivery so I want to start doing something but dont know where to begin. What worked for you mommas?
Be kind to yourself, your body just did something huge. Eat well, move gently, sleep when baby sleeps. The tummy fat goes with time, dont pressure yourself in the early weeks.
I cried looking at my postpartum tummy in the mirror, felt nothing like my old self. But honestly give it time, it is healing and that pooch slowly softens. Be patient with the woman who just gave birth, she deserves it.
After my c-section I had to be really patient, no rushing into exercise. I started with gentle walks once my doctor cleared me, then slowly added core work much later. Give your body time to heal first, the tummy does come down gradually.
Realistically I had no time for workouts with a newborn, so I just focused on home food and short walks with the pram. Small consistent things added up over months. Dont expect overnight results, it is just not how it works.
Daily walking and light postnatal yoga did wonders for me once my gynac said okay to start. Dont jump into crunches early. Slow and steady, the belly tightens over a few months.
Breastfeeding actually helped my tummy shrink faster, it burns a good amount of energy. Pair it with simple home food and some walking. Dont diet hard while feeding though, you need the nourishment.
