Its been almost 5 months since delivery and my rib cage still feels wider than before, even my old kurtis fit weird around there. Did it go back for any of u or stay like this? thoda confused honestly.
Actually my gynac explained that a hormone called relaxin widens our ribs to make space for the baby. She strictly told me not to use tight corsets or waist trainers as they can damage internal organs. She suggested doing diaphragmatic breathing and gentle postpartum yoga after 6 weeks post-delivery.
Oh god, pregnancy changes our body so much na. I had the worst nausea throughout, so postpartum I was just happy to eat, but the wide rib cage really bothered me too. Try wearing comfortable post-pregnancy belts if you can, and don't rush because your body took 9 months to stretch so give it some time.
I also felt my chest and ribs were so wide after my delivery. Honestly, I didn't do any heavy belts or anything, just gave it time and did very light breathing exercises at home. Slowly in 6-8 months, it felt like it went back to normal on its own.
I felt so sad looking in the mirror because my favorite kurtis wouldn't fit around my chest at all. I literally cried thinking this is my new body forever. But trust me, as I started holding my baby and walking daily, my rib cage naturally settled back a lot by the 5th month.
