Im in my 6th month and turning in bed has become such a task. Not sure which side is okay and how to get up without straining my pet. How do you all manage this?
Personally, I found sleeping on my left side with a C-shaped pregnancy pillow was the only way I could get any rest. To wake up, I had to roll onto my side and slowly push myself up using my hands, otherwise it strained my tummy. It's all about finding what feels comfortable for you.
My doctor explained the science behind this: sleeping on the left side prevents the heavy uterus from pressing on the main vein (IVC) that returns blood to your heart. When waking up, turn to your side, use your elbow to push up, and sit for a minute before standing up to avoid dizziness.
Haha, sleep? What is that? In my 3rd trimester, turning from left to right feels like a heavy cargo ship turning in the ocean! Seriously though, sleep on your left side and use lots of pillows, and when waking up, roll like a log to your side first to avoid pulling any stomach muscles.
Sleeping on your left side is considered best as it improves blood flow to the baby. When waking up, always turn to one side and support yourself with your hands to sit up slowly. It really helped keep my energy up and kept my body active till my normal delivery.
My mother-in-law always told me to sleep only on my left side and keep a pillow between my knees. My doctor also confirmed this is the safest position for baby's circulation. While waking up, turn to your side first instead of jerking straight up, ma.
