Im in my last weeks now and honestly i cant find any comfortable position at night. Pet is so big, kamar pains and i keep turning side to side. Barely sleeping yaar. How did u all manage in the final month?
Oh, I felt so incredibly heavy and restless during those last few weeks, it was so hard. I felt like the baby was constantly kicking my ribs every time I tried to lie down. I cried many nights out of exhaustion, but using multiple cushions under my legs and elevating my head a bit really helped ease the pressure. Hang in there, this phase will pass soon.
By the 9th month, sleep becomes a luxury, I totally feel you. What worked for me was sleeping on my left side with a giant pregnancy pillow supporting my back and tummy, and keeping a small pillow between my knees. Also, make sure not to drink too much water right before sleeping, otherwise you will spend the whole night running to the toilet with your heavy belly.
When I was in my 9th month at my parents' house, my mother used to prepare a warm glass of milk for me before bed and help me adjust my pillows. Sleeping on the left side is the most comfortable, and keeping a pillow under your feet can reduce swelling too. It's a sweet but heavy time, just let your family pamper you.
Our elders always say to sleep only on the left side during the final months to improve blood flow to the baby. When I asked my doctor, she also confirmed that left side sleeping is the best and safest. I used to tuck a soft cotton rolled saree under my tummy for support, which was very comfortable. Take care, ma, you are very close to holding your baby!
In a joint family, everyone has different advice, my saas told me to keep a mustard seed pillow under my head and sleep straight, but my own mom said left side is best! Actually, sleeping on the left side with a pillow between my legs was the only way I could get any sleep. Don't hesitate to pile up 4-5 pillows around you, whatever makes you comfortable!
