I'm in my second month of pregnancy and finding it surprisingly hard to get comfortable and sleep well. What are the best sleeping positions or tips for comfortable sleep during this stage?
Although left-side sleeping is highly recommended later, my doctor said in the second month you can sleep in any position that feels comfortable. The uterus is still small and well-protected. Just avoid sleeping flat on your stomach if it feels tender.
Sleep was so difficult because of late-night food cravings! I used to eat a light snack like a banana or warm milk before bed so my stomach didn't growl. Try not to eat heavy spicy dinners, it helps.
I used to panic if I accidentally woke up on my back in the 2nd month, thinking I harmed the baby! But honestly, it is totally fine at this early stage. Don't worry so much, your body will naturally adjust as the belly grows.
I totally understand how exhausting these early weeks are when your body is changing so fast. Just sleep whenever you feel tired, even if it is a daytime nap. Be gentle with your body, it is doing beautiful work.
Oh, I bought a giant pregnancy pillow in the second month itself because I was so worried about my sleeping posture! It was probably too early, but it gave me peace of mind. Do whatever makes u feel safe and snug.
In my second month, nausea kept me awake all night. I kept some dry crackers on my bedside table to munch on if I felt sick in the middle of the night. Sleeping with a slightly elevated head also helped ease the acid reflux.
Because of my PCOS, I was extra careful from day one. I started using a soft pillow between my knees early on to get used to side-sleeping. Just take it easy, listen to your body, and don't stress over perfect positions yet.
