my baby is almost 3 months now and i still have a lot of the pregnancy weight on me. not in a rush but i want to start somewhere gently. how did you mommas begin without overdoing it?
Once your doctor clears you, gentle walking and some postnatal yoga are a lovely start. Don't jump into heavy workouts immediately. Build up slowly and listen to your body.
First, go easy on yourself, your body just did something huge. I started super slow, just short walks with the baby and eating proper home food. The weight comes off gradually, please don't rush or feel bad about it.
Realistically you won't get gym time with a newborn, so I focused on small things, walking, cutting the random sugar snacks, home cooked meals. Slow and steady. Don't expect quick results, that's not how postpartum works.
If you're breastfeeding, don't go on any crash diet, you need the nutrition and so does baby. For me feeding itself helped shed some weight slowly. Eat well, stay hydrated and give it time.
Give yourself at least the first few months to recover, then start with walking and clean eating. Get your doctor's go ahead before any real exercise, especially core stuff. It came off both times, just took patience.
After my C-section I had to wait till my doctor cleared me before doing anything active, so please don't start workouts too soon. I began with gentle walks once she okayed it. Healing first, then fitness.
