How to take iron and calcium tablets in pregnancy?
Gynac gave me both iron and calcium but said dont take them together. Im confused about the timing na, like which one in morning and which at night? Pls share how u manage it.
Oh I am planning my pregnancy now and was just researching this! I read that we should never take them together. Do we have to take them on an empty stomach or after food?
Keeping track of pills is so annoying with a busy work schedule. I kept my iron pill next to my breakfast plate and my calcium pill on my bedside table for the night. Just keep at least a 4-hour gap between them so they absorb properly.
Just keep a simple rule: one in the morning and one at night. I used to take iron after breakfast with lemon water (vitamin C helps absorb iron) and calcium with a glass of warm milk after dinner. No confusion and works perfectly.
Whatever you do, don't make them roommates! Iron and calcium are enemies and shouldn't be taken together because they block each other's absorption. I used to take iron after breakfast with some lemon water, and calcium after dinner.
Actually yaar, never take them at the same time. Calcium stops the iron from absorbing in the body. I used to take iron in the afternoon and calcium before sleeping. Simple scene!
