I am 12 weeks and planning to tell my boss soon, but I feel nervous about workload and reactions. My team is small and I don't want things to become awkward. How did you share the news at office?
I waited till my first trimester was done and scan was okay, then told my manager in a private meeting. Kept it simple, said i'm pregnant and my due date, and that i'll plan handover properly. They appreciate when you sound organised honestly.
Tell HR also in writing after you tell your boss, so your maternity leave is on record. Verbal is good to start but keep a mail trail for the official part.
Just be direct and professional. Tell them your expected date and how you plan to manage work till leave. Also good to know your company maternity policy before the talk so you can discuss it confidently.
Both times i told my boss after 12 weeks. Do it in person if you can, not on chat. Have a rough plan ready for your leave dates, that makes the whole conversation smooth.
