I recently had my baby, and my belly is still quite loose and soft. I want to get back into shape and tighten my stomach area. What can I do to help with my post-pregnancy belly?
Be gentle with your body and thank God for this beautiful baby. Eat healthy, home-cooked food, drink lots of water, and do some light yoga when you feel ready and healed.
First of all, give your body some time, you just grew a human! Don't rush into heavy workouts. Start with gentle walks and basic core exercises only after your gynac gives the green light.
Your body has been through so much to bring this baby to you, so please love it as it is right now. You can slowly start gentle pelvic floor exercises when you feel fully recovered and have doctor's permission.
My mother-in-law made me wear a traditional cotton saree wrapped tightly around my belly after delivery, which actually gave great support! Along with that, breastfeeding also helps contract the uterus naturally.
I tracked my postpartum recovery on an app and started doing specific postpartum deep breathing (diaphragmatic breathing) which really helps. Avoid normal sit-ups initially as they can worsen diastasis recti.
Using a soft postpartum belly belt helped me get some support initially. Combine that with healthy eating and simple walks. Remember, it took 9 months to stretch, so it will take time to shrink back too.
