I already had thyroid before pregnancy and now my reports show it has gone up a bit. Im 10 weeks. Bit worried about how it affects the baby and what extra care i need to take. Anyone here managed thyroid through their pregnancy?
I had thyroid all through my pregnancy. The main thing is taking your thyroid tablet exactly as prescribed on empty stomach, and getting your levels tested regularly so the dose can be adjusted. My doctor changed my dose a couple times, so dont skip those tests.
I managed mine calmly, the medicine is small and easy, just remember it first thing in morning before tea or food. My family worried but my doctor reassured us its very controllable. Regular testing is the key, dont miss it.
Please dont self adjust this one at all. Thyroid in pregnancy needs proper doctor monitoring with blood tests. Just stick to your prescription and keep every follow up appointment.
My gynac said hypothyroidism is managed well in pregnancy as long as you stay on your medication and monitor TSH every few weeks. The dose often needs increasing as pregnancy progresses. Important to take the pill empty stomach and wait before eating, follow your doctor's exact schedule.
