We travel by car often and now with growing pet im scared the belt will press on baby. Im 6 months. How do u all adjust the seatbelt so it sits properly?
Listen, safety first! Never put the belt across your stomach because that can press the baby. Put the lap belt under your belly and the cross belt between your breasts. Safe riding!
I was so paranoid about everything after my past loss, even sitting in a car scared me. Please make sure the lap belt is tucked way below your belly on your pelvic bones so there is zero pressure on the baby.
I make sure my seatbelt is always tucked safely under my big food-and-baby bump! Keep the lap strap low on your hips so you can comfortably ride to your next food joint without any pressure.
My pregnancy app had a great diagram for this. Always wear the lap belt under your abdomen, resting low on your hip bones, and the shoulder belt across your chest. It's the safest way to protect both of you.
Since I had a high-risk pregnancy with some bleeding, my doctor advised keeping car travel to a minimum. When you do travel, make sure the belt is completely under the bump, and check with your doc if long rides are safe for you.
While driving to my regular thyroid checks, I always placed the lap belt flat across my upper thighs, under the belly. Proper placement is so important to stay comfortable and safe on frequent doctor visits.
During my prenatal class, the hospital physiotherapist specifically showed us how to wear it. The lower strap should sit snugly below your baby bump, flat on your thighs, and the shoulder strap should go right between your breasts.
