Bad cough since 2-3 days and im 14 weeks. We have alex syrup at home and i almost took it but stopped. Not taking anything without checking, will ask my gynac but wanted to know if anyone has experience with this in pregnancy.
I completely understand how stressful it is to get a cough during pregnancy and feel scared of taking meds. But please don't take Alex syrup without asking your gynac first, as some cough syrups are not safe.
Having faced complications before, I strongly advise against taking Alex syrup or any OTC medicine. Please consult your doctor directly to get a pregnancy-safe prescription.
Because of my PCOS, I was extra careful about every single pill or syrup. Please don't self-medicate with Alex syrup, let your doctor prescribe a safe cough medicine.
My pregnancy tracker app explicitly warned against OTC cough syrups containing decongestants. It is best to call your gynac to ask for a safe alternative.
During my pregnancy, my thyroid doctor told me to never take over-the-counter cough syrups without their approval. Please get your gynac's green light before taking Alex.
For mild cough, I usually prefer warm ginger-honey water or steam inhalation. But if it is severe, please check with your doctor before taking Alex syrup or any other allopathic medicine.
