We eat a lot of small fish at home and someone mentioned anchovies are good for the baby. But im always confused about which fish are safe in pregnancy and which to avoid. Anyone know about this one?
Ooh i love them haha. Good news is small fish are usually fine, just cook them well, no raw fancy versions. I kept it in limit and enjoyed within reason. Cravings satisfied without the worry!
Anchovies are small fish so they are low in mercury, which is the good part. But they must be fully cooked, no raw or under cooked fish in pregnancy. I always checked my fish choices with my doctor to be safe.
Small fish like anchovies are generally considered lower in mercury and a decent source of omega 3 and protein. Just have them well cooked and in moderation. If u have any allergies or concerns, run it past ur gynac.
We eat a lot of small fish at home and my elders always said the little ones are fine. I had them cooked properly during pregnancy and was okay. Avoid the big fish and raw stuff, and confirm with ur doctor.
