If its for a needed procedure, the doctors choose what is safe for pregnancy. I would never decide this myself, your gynac and the anesthetist plan it together. Definitely discuss your pregnancy with them beforehand.
When this came up for me i asked the anesthetist directly and they explained everything clearly. Dont hesitate to ask the hospital team all your questions. Thats literally their job and it eased my mind a lot.
