I sometimes use baking soda for heartburn or cleaning, but now I'm pregnant. I'm wondering, is baking soda safe to use during pregnancy for any purpose, or should I avoid it?
If you're using it to bake some delicious chocolate chip cookies, go ahead! But please don't drink it for acidity unless you want to taste soap. Stick to normal antacids.
I used to bake a lot during my pregnancy to stay happy, and using normal amounts of baking soda in food is completely fine. Just please don't use it as an acidity remedy, look after your health!
Avoid drinking baking soda during pregnancy. It contains sodium bicarbonate which can cause fluid retention and affect your blood pressure. For reflux, there are much safer medications your gynac can prescribe.
Using baking soda in your normal baked food is totally fine. But don't drink it mixed in water as a home remedy for heartburn, as it has too much sodium. For severe acidity, always ask your doctor.
