I use tulsi or basil in tea sometimes, especially when throat feels scratchy. Now that I am pregnant, I am double-checking even kitchen things. Did you continue having basil in small amounts?
I love using fresh basil in my food and a little is totally fine during pregnancy. I just keep it as a normal kitchen herb, not as a daily remedy or supplement. For anything you plan to take in larger amounts, always check with your doctor first.
We use tulsi a lot at home and my mother gave me a couple of leaves in warm water sometimes. Small amounts in food are fine. I still mentioned it to my doctor and she said in cooking quantities theres nothing to worry about.
A little tulsi in your tea or food is fine and our elders have used it forever, beta. The thing is moderation, very large amounts of basil are not advised in pregnancy. So a few leaves in cooking, no problem, but dont start taking it like a daily medicine without asking.
In normal food quantities basil is generally considered fine. The caution is about large or concentrated amounts or supplements. If you mean adding a bit of tulsi or sweet basil to your meals, thats okay, but for anything more do confirm with your gynac.
