My nani always offers paan after meals and now everyone says have it for digestion in pregnancy. But i wasnt sure if the betel leaf is actually okay for baby. Anyone checked this with their doc?
After my meals, I felt a lot of heavy bloating and my grandmother suggested chewing a simple betel leaf. It actually felt very soothing for digestion. But I made sure there was absolutely no tobacco or supari in it, just plain leaf.
Betel leaf itself is traditional, but we must be extremely cautious during pregnancy. Because of my PCOS history, I preferred to completely check with my doctor before adding any unusual foods. Never take risks, and avoid supari completely.
I was so scared to eat even a plain paan because of all the conflicting advice online! If it's just a simple betel leaf with a little gulkand, it might be okay, but please don't eat it with supari or tobacco. I would overthink this so much and just avoid it to be safe, maybe ask your doctor?
You can occasionally have a plain betel leaf for digestion, but definitely avoid areca nut (supari) as it is unsafe. I had thyroid issues and had to be very strict with my diet and regular doctor checks. Always consult your doctor before trying new food habits.
Chewing a plain betel leaf with a bit of fennel (saunf) is a great natural home remedy for acidity. But make sure there is no tobacco or harmful additives. If you ever have severe stomach pain or bleeding, skip the home remedies and contact your gynac immediately.
Simple betel leaf is considered pure and often used for digestion, but keep it very moderate. Just eat healthy, stay positive, and focus on your prayers. God will keep you and the baby safe, just take basic precautions.
I remember craving sweet paan so much during my pregnancy! Having a plain betel leaf once in a while is totally fine and actually helped my digestion. Just cherish these small safe treats and enjoy your beautiful journey, it passes by so fast.
