I get this strong craving for chaat and anything with kala namak lately. Im in first tri. Just want to know if black salt is fine to have regularly or should i stick to normal salt only.
A pinch of black salt with lemon water genuinely settled my queasy stomach during the bad nausea days. Small quantity, totally helped. I just didnt overdo it. If your morning sickness is severe though, that needs the doctor, not just home tricks.
In moderation it is generally fine and many use it for digestion. The main caution is overall sodium intake and keeping enough iodine in your diet. If you have any blood pressure or swelling issues, definitely run it by your gynac before making it a regular thing.
Black salt in normal food amounts is fine and it actually helped my nausea and acidity, a little in nimbu pani or buttermilk. Just remember it is still salt, so dont have it in excess, total salt should stay moderate especially if your BP runs high. Otherwise no issue in small amounts.
One small thing, black salt and rock salt usually have less iodine than regular iodised salt, and iodine matters in pregnancy. So dont fully replace your normal iodised salt with only black salt. I would mention your salt choices to your doctor, especially if you have thyroid like me.
