Im a big cheese lover and add it to almost everything lol. But ive read some cheeses arent safe during pregnancy and now im confused which ones are okay. Whats good for me and baby and which to avoid?
Yes in moderation, it gives you calcium and protein. Just go for pasteurised cheese, which most packaged ones in India are. Avoid raw milk soft cheeses. I had cheese in my sandwiches throughout, no problem.
Cheese is fine and even good for calcium, but the key is which type. My doctor said stick to hard and pasteurised cheeses like cheddar and processed slices, and avoid soft unpasteurised ones like some bries and raw milk cheeses because of infection risk. So just check the label for pasteurised.
Regular packaged cheese cubes and slices are pasteurised and totally fine, no need for fancy expensive imported soft cheeses which you should actually avoid anyway. Good cheap source of calcium. Just dont overeat since its also high in fat and salt.
Cheese was my best friend this pregnancy, ha. Good news is pasteurised ones are safe and great for calcium. I just stayed away from the fancy soft raw milk types. Everything in moderation, but ya you can enjoy your cheese toast guilt free mostly.
