My mom gives everyone a spoon of chyawanprash in the morning and now she wants me to continue it for immunity. But im not sure if all those herbs in it are ok during pregnancy. Did any of u keep taking it or stop?
It has lots of herbs and ingredients, and not all are studied for pregnancy. I asked my gynac before taking anything ayurvedic and she preferred I skip it and just eat normal nutritious food. Best to check with your own doctor rather than assume.
Beta chyawanprash is given for immunity in our homes, but during pregnancy some say it can be a bit heaty. I'd take only a small amount if at all, and please do ask your doctor first since it has many herbs in it.
My MIL wanted me to have it for strength, but I checked with my doctor first who said keep it minimal. I'd say dont take a big spoon daily on your own. A balanced diet does the job, and the doctor's word should come above family habit.
In my joint family everyone swears by chyawanprash, but for pregnancy I just ran it past my doctor to be safe. She said a tiny bit is okay but not necessary. So I let the elders be happy with a small spoon and focused on real food.
