I use a lot of jeera (cumin) in my cooking almost daily. Now that I'm in my early pregnancy, I'm wondering if it's safe to continue using it or if I should reduce the amount I consume.
According to my pregnancy tracker app, cumin is perfectly safe in normal food amounts. It actually helps a lot with digestion and bloating during the first trimester. Just avoid taking concentrated cumin supplements or excessive jeera water without asking your doctor.
After my IVF journey, I was extremely cautious about everything I ate. Cumin is generally very safe when used as a spice in your daily cooking. But if you plan to drink large amounts of jeera water for acidity, please consult your doctor first to be absolutely safe.
If cumin wasn't safe, our Indian kitchens would have to shut down! I have had jeera in literally every meal, and now in my 3rd trimester, it's the only thing keeping my heavy bloating in check. Enjoy your food, it is completely fine!
Cumin is a wonderful spice and absolutely safe in normal cooking. In fact, adding a pinch of roasted cumin powder to curd can really help soothe your stomach. Just don't overdo it with concentrated extracts or supplements.
Having faced a loss before, I know how terrifying it is to eat anything new. Using a little cumin in your regular dal or subji is completely fine and safe. However, please avoid heavy herbal home remedies or large amounts of jeera water just to be safe.
