My dadi keeps telling me to eat dates, especially in the later months of pregnancy. I'm wondering if they are safe to consume throughout pregnancy and if there's an ideal amount to eat. Please share your experiences.
Yes, they are absolutely safe and high in iron. Just limit to 2-3 dates a day in the first two trimesters, and you can increase it in the ninth month to help with labor.
Beta, dates are very warm in nature, so don't eat too many in the early months. Traditionally, we give them in the final month soaked in milk to make delivery easier. Take only 1 or 2 for now.
Dates can sometimes trigger contractions if eaten in large quantities too early, or spike sugar if you have GDM. Since I had multiple complications, I'd strongly suggest checking with your doctor before eating them.
Yes they are safe, plus they give you a natural sugar rush so you don't end up eating an entire chocolate cake! Just keep the quantity in check or you'll be bouncing off the walls.
They are safe and much better than sweet cravings. Instead of buying expensive dry fruit bars, just buy a packet of normal Lion dates. Eating two daily is more than enough.
When I went to my parents' house for my delivery, my dad brought special soft dates for me. He made me eat 4 daily in my last month saying it gives strength for normal delivery.
