My mom keeps making sua (dill) saag and saying its good for me now. I like it but wanted to check if its actually beneficial in pregnancy or just a ghar ka nuskha. Anyone been told the same?
Dill leaves are super healthy! In India, we call it suva or shepu, and it's great for digestion. My mom used to make delicious suva parathas for me! Definitely try adding it to your meals in small amounts.
Yes, dill (or shepu/suva) is very nutritious and rich in iron and folate. I ate it regularly in moderate amounts and had a very smooth, normal delivery. Just don't overeat it, a small portion once a week is great.
Dill is a wonderful leafy green that boosts your immunity during pregnancy. I love having it as a light soup or in dal. Pair your healthy diet with light prenatal yoga if your doctor has allowed it, to stay fit!
According to my pregnancy diet tracker, dill is excellent for bone health because of its high calcium content. It also helps manage gestational hypertension. I used to sprinkle fresh dill leaves on my curd or salads occasionally.
In my second trimester, I felt extremely bloated and my mother made a simple dill (suva) bhaji with moong dal. It actually helped ease my gas and digestion so much. Just eat it in moderate quantities as it is very healthy.
To be honest, I hated the strong smell of shepu (dill) during my twin pregnancy, but my family kept forcing me to eat it for iron! It is actually very good for you and baby, just cook it well so the smell isn't too overpowering.
