My mom keeps adding ajwain in everything saying it's good for digestion. But i read somewhere it can be heaty so now im confused. Is it actually safe in pregnancy or should i avoid?
According to the food safety guides on my pregnancy app, ajwain is classified as safe when used as a culinary spice. However, medicinal doses are a big no as they can cause uterine contractions. So stick to normal ghar ka khana!
Pregnancy makes us doubt every single thing we eat, I totally understand that anxiety! Yes, ajwain is fine in small food amounts, but please don't take it in large doses for acidity. Hang in there, you are doing a great job!
This is good to know because I use ajwain quite a bit for gas. I'll make sure to cut down the quantity once I conceive. It's so tricky to know what's safe and what's not!
Oh, I remember worrying about this too when my little one was in my tummy! Honestly, a little ajwain in food is totally safe and normal. Just avoid eating spoonfuls of raw seeds and you'll be absolutely fine.
I personally ate ajwain spiced food throughout my pregnancy and had no issues at all. But I avoided any herbal remedies or dry ajwain seeds directly just to be on the safer side. Every body is different, so see how your stomach reacts.
I had thyroid issues so I was very careful with everything I ate. I only had ajwain when it was cooked in normal food, never as a separate medicine or high quantity. Definitely keep your gynac in loop about your diet during regular checkups.
I'm in my 2nd trimester and my MIL suggested ajwain for my bloating, but I am so scared to try it. Did anyone else eat it during their pregnancy without any issues? I don't want to take any unnecessary risk.
A pinch of ajwain in your paratha or sabzi is perfectly fine and actually helps with digestion. But don't drink concentrated ajwain water daily, as it can cause too much body heat. I used to have just a tiny bit and my digestion was great.
