My face is looking a bit puffy since few days and my period is also late. Im not sure if its connected or just water retention. Has anyone noticed face puffiness as an early sign?
Normally, some mild water retention (edema) is common, and my mother-in-law used to say it's because of heat. But my doctor strictly told me that sudden swelling on the face or hands can be a sign of high blood pressure (preeclampsia). Please get your blood pressure checked by your gynac to rule out any risk.
A little puffiness can happen because of hormonal changes and extra blood flow. But if you feel the face swelling is too sudden or severe, it is best to check with your doctor to make sure your blood pressure is normal. Take care of yourself.
I remember looking so bloated and puffy in my photos near the end of my pregnancy, my toddler is now 2 and those photos make me laugh! Some swelling is normal due to extra fluids. Just keep an eye out—if it's sudden and severe, definitely get your BP checked by your doctor.
A little bit of facial puffiness is totally normal due to water retention and hormones, so don't stress too much. But if the swelling is very sudden or severe, or you have high BP or headache, please check with your gynac immediately to be safe.
Beti, mild swelling in the feet and face happens due to water retention in pregnancy. You can try drinking warm cumin water and reducing excess salt. However, if your face swells up suddenly and heavily, do not wait, go to the doctor and get your blood pressure checked.
