I used to add alsi to my food before pregnancy for the omega thing. Now im not sure if its still safe to continue in pregnancy. Anyone been told by their doc about flaxseed?
In small amounts flaxseed is generally considered fine and gives healthy fats. The advice is just moderation. Since pregnancy nutrition is personal, your doctor or a dietitian can tell you the right quantity for you.
Flaxseed has good omega 3 and fibre so a small amount is usually fine, my tracker listed it as okay in moderation. I sprinkled a little powdered alsi on my food. But since opinions vary, do run it by your gynac, some suggest keeping it small.
We use alsi at home for its goodness and I had a little during pregnancy. My mother said keep it small and that suited me. Nice for digestion, but for amounts trust your doctor.
A little is fine and good for digestion, I had it occasionally. Dont go overboard though, a small daily spoon is plenty. Ground is better than whole so your body actually absorbs it.
I added a spoon of ground flaxseed for the fibre and it helped with my constipation. Just keep the quantity small and balanced. With any seed in pregnancy I always confirmed amounts with my doctor, better safe.
