Doc suggested I take the flu shot since its monsoon and everyone at home is falling sick. But my MIL is saying no vaccines during pregnancy. Im in second tri now, a bit confused what to do. Did anyone here take it?
Yes, my gynac actually recommended it. She said the inactivated flu shot is considered safe in pregnancy and even protects the baby for some months after birth. The nasal spray one is the type they avoid, so just take it through your doctor.
I took it in my last pregnancy, was working through flu season and didnt want to fall sick. Doc gave it during a routine visit, quick and no issue after. Just clear it with your gynac first.
Generally yes it is recommended, but since every history is different, do ask your own doctor before taking any shot. Mine reviewed my reports first then gave the okay.
From what i was told it is one of the vaccines they do suggest during pregnancy, along with the Tdap. But please get it at your doctors advice and at their clinic, dont self decide on timing.
