Just got my positive and the doc handed me folic acid tablets straight away. I take a decent diet so wondering if its really that important or just routine. Curious to know why its given so early.
We are planning and my doctor already put me on folic acid, she said to start before even conceiving. I didnt realise how important it was earlier. Anyone else started it during the planning stage?
Yes very much, my gynac started me on folic acid even before conceiving. She said it helps prevent neural tube defects in the early weeks. Its one of the most important things to take, dont skip it.
Folic acid is honestly non negotiable in early pregnancy, every doctor insists on it. I took it religiously in both my pregnancies. Just take the dose your gynac prescribes and you are set.
