My mom suggested eating amla (gooseberry) during pregnancy for its health benefits. Is it actually safe and good to consume gooseberry while expecting?
It is very good for health, but be careful if you are eating sweet amla candy or murabba. I had gestational diabetes and had to strictly monitor my sugar levels, so I only had raw amla or home-made juice without sugar. Always keep an eye on how much sweet stuff you are consuming.
I love having amla juice in the morning before my gentle yoga session. Of course, I only started my prenatal yoga and light walks after my doctor explicitly gave the green light. Diet and light movement together really help keep your energy high!
Oh amla was a lifesaver for my morning sickness! I used to suck on a small piece of salted dry amla whenever I felt like throwing up. It really helps to clear that bad metallic taste in the mouth.
Honestly, I eat amla candy just to stop myself from eating chalk or random clay cravings! I'm in my 3rd trimester now and constantly exhausted, so anything sour keeps me awake. Just eat it in limit, otherwise you will get acidity like me.
Amla is actually great for immunity and has lots of Vitamin C, so I had it regularly. But since I had thyroid fluctuations, I always ran everything by my doctor first. Make sure you check with your gynac during your monthly follow-ups about your overall diet too.
