My cousins wedding is coming up next month and i really wanted to get my hair straightened for it. But now im 4 months pregnant and thoda worried about the chemicals they use. Has anyone done it during pregnancy, was it fine?
Yaar actually I wanted to do it for a wedding but my gynac said avoid the chemical one, especially the smell part. I just did soft curls instead and managed. Better to wait na, hair can be done later.
I straight up asked my doctor at my checkup and she advised against the strong chemical treatments, mainly the fumes and skin absorption concern. She said basic heat styling occasionally is okay. Best to just ask your own doctor clearly and follow that.
Most salon treatments involve chemicals and strong fumes, so many women avoid the harsh ones in pregnancy, especially first trimester. I personally skipped the chemical straightening and just stuck to simple styling. If you really want it, ask your gynac and pick a well ventilated salon.
I avoided chemical straightening both times, just didnt feel worth the risk. A blow dry or flat iron once in a while is different from a full keratin chemical job. If in doubt, leave the strong chemicals for after delivery.
Realistically the fumes and long hours in the salon were more annoying than anything for me. I just kept hair tied and simple through those months. Saved time and money, did the treatment after baby.
