My hair has suddenly started falling a lot more, like clumps when i comb. Periods are not due yet but we are trying so my mind is going everywhere. Can this actually be an early sign or am i overthinking?
If you are having noticeable hairfall, dont just link it to pregnancy, get your thyroid and haemoglobin checked. Mine was due to thyroid and once that was managed it improved. A quick blood test and a chat with your doctor will tell you the real reason.
My hair was gorgeous and thick during pregnancy, then around 3 months after my baby it started falling in clumps and I genuinely cried. Turns out that postpartum shedding is totally normal and it grew back. So if anything hairfall is more of an after baby thing, not a pregnancy sign.
My doctor told me pregnancy hormones often make hair fall less and look fuller, not more. If someone is having a lot of hairfall in pregnancy she said to check thyroid and iron levels, because those can cause it. So hairfall is not a reliable pregnancy sign, the usual early ones are missed period and nausea.
Not really an early sign honestly. Many women actually get thicker hair during pregnancy because of hormones. The big hairfall usually happens after delivery, a few months postpartum, that is super common. So hairfall alone is not how you would know you are pregnant.
