I've recently started eating hummus and really enjoy it. I'm pregnant now and trying to eat healthy. Is hummus a good and safe food choice to include in my diet during pregnancy?
Hummus is fine beta but eat it in limit because kabuli chana can sometimes cause thoda gas. Better to have it in daytime and add a pinch of hing or jeera powder to avoid stomach heavy feeling.
My mother-in-law was a bit skeptical since chickpeas are heavy to digest, but my gynac said fresh homemade hummus is excellent for protein. Just avoid the store-bought ones that have too many preservatives.
Honestly chickpeas are great for keeping blood sugar stable because they have high fiber, but be careful with what you dip in it. I used to eat it with cucumber slices instead of white bread or pita during my GD time.
Actually I read that chickpeas in hummus have good folate, which is very helpful when we are trying. It seems quite healthy if made fresh, but maybe ask your doctor once just to be sure?
