My gynac suggested an internal scan because I am very early and sac was not clearly visible from outside. I felt shy and also scared after hearing the word internal. Has anyone done it in early weeks?
Yes the transvaginal scan is safe, my doctor does it in early pregnancy because it gives a clearer picture when baby is tiny. She explained its commonly done in first trimester and doesnt harm the baby. Later they switch to the regular tummy scan.
I was so nervous before my first internal scan, I felt scared it might hurt the baby. The doctor reassured me its completely safe and standard early on. It was a bit uncomfortable but quick, and baby was perfectly fine.
I googled this exact thing and worried myself sick. My gynac calmly said its very safe and routine in early pregnancy. If you are still unsure just ask your doctor why they are recommending it, they will explain and you will feel better.
Yes its safe, done routinely in early weeks for a clearer view and to check the heartbeat. Had it in both my pregnancies. Slightly awkward but harmless, dont worry about it.
